About Us![]()
The Bead Hold opened in August 2004 in Point Chevalier, Auckland, New Zealand. A comprehensive online store went live in 2006 so that all our customers have easy access to our treasures at any time, from any place. The Bead Hold is an absolute treasure trove and caters for all ages, tastes and budgets. Our store is full of wonderful beads and findings hand selected from all around the word by Queen Bead. A full range of beading tools, books and accessories are stocked, as well as wonderful Czech glass vintage and art buttons. We have New Zealands largest variety of beading classes for both beginner and more experienced beaders. We have a strong focus on the quality of crafting, finishing and design techniques, and our instructors are extensively trained to deliver excellent and consistent tuition. We have good, strong low lights so that you can see perfectly, even on winter evenings. We even have extra glasses in case you forget your own! Our shop has a wonderful atmosphere, and customers delight in the ambience and total creative experience. We encourage you to come and use the tables in our parlour to create. We have tool sets for you to use, friendly staff to help, and tea and biscuits are an added bonus. There is no charge for this service. Come and delight in making your own unique pieces and experience
"The Heart of Auckland Beading"
The Bead Hold Royal FamilyOur Royal Family started from the first day of classes, as a way of openly acknowledging the person who had created the class. If you run your eye down our class list, you will notice each class is prefaced by a name with a title. This lets you know who created that class. For example, Countess Kathy's Bead Basics is named after Kathy Dannerbeck of Beads and Beyond, Seattle, WA, as she gave us permission to use her basics framework and techniques in our classes. As each staff member creates a class that is taught, she becomes a Lady. Therefore, if you see 'Lady Rebecca's Flower Power Brooch,' you will know that Becky created that class. Any class that is prefaced by 'Queen Bead,' means that Nia created the class and so on. While we cannot copyright basic techniques, we can copyright the designs of our beading classes, and as such, none of our classes may be taught without permission as they are the intellectual property of The Bead Hold. If you would like to know more about the possibilities of teaching our classes, please contact Nia for further information. |
